I want to learn Wing Chun but theres is none in my town who teach one. theres MMA, TKD, Karate %26amp; kick boxing but no Wing Chun. is there any source like a website or just a material that can help me to learn Wing Chun. i really want to learn it. if thats impossiblr then what are the best choice from the following that MA should i take? thanks for the help.
Wing Chun Question?
you will not recieve good training from a video.
Also there is a huge huge degree of bs schools and bad teachers and bad teaching when it comes to wing chun. Not to mention the bs lineage war crap they all get involved in.
Unless you know what to look for go with the MMA or kickboxing school. TKD is suspect as well and karate can be good if they train with resistance but that is not always the case, depends on the dojo.
I'm not saying that there isn't a good wing chun teacher or gym out there, just that it is less likely to find one than in another art. I myself have never come across one and am not looking for one.
Reply:Our instructor has 20 yrs training in Wing Chun as well as BJJ, Wrestling, kickboxing. He learned wing Chun form the best in Taiwan and utilizes parts of it in our training that is actually useful for NHB(no holds barred fighting)

here in sydney australia, there's a good wc academy, in sanfrancisco there's good wc academy, in monterey park california there's good wc academy..all descended from YipMun..but the thing is where do you live? Report It
Reply:First of all in which region do you live?

Reply:Why do you want to learn Wing Chun aka chinese ****** slapping?
MMA or kick boxing will help you more in long run. Any karates that is Kyokushin or offshoot of Kyokushin is good as wel.
Reply:Wing chun is not slapping, there should be a club or a head office in each state. It may not be listed as wing chun try Yipman or wing chung in a internet search engine.
in the us try http://www.uswingchun.com/
in oz try www.combatcentres.com
Reply:A good Wing Chun teacher is hard to find anywhere. If you've never done martial arts before, Wing Chun would be very hard to pick up from a video. Also, the reflex training, sensitivity training, and conditioning can't be communicated via that medium. Best advice is to look around town and find a school you like instead of a specific style. You'll have time to learn Wing Chun later in life if you build solid fundamentals. If you really must learn Wing Chun, then move to another place where they offer good Wing Chun. After all, if you are that committed, moving shouldn't be a problem.
