What martial arts work well with a boxing stance?

I belong to a boxing club, where I have been training for a few months now. I have a interest in returning to martial arts to practise Kung Fu (I have a very small background in Karate.) However, my coach says that I should pick a Kung Fu that doesn't "mess up" my boxing stance, like Wing Chun. I was thinking of practising more than one Martial Art, and I was wondering if any martial artist or masters would have some good martial arts that work well with the boxing stance, and if so, please go into detail about what the name of the style is. Thank you

What martial arts work well with a boxing stance?
well, sure wing chun works very well. But it depends on the instructors. Wing chun is probably the closest kung fu to boxing. Jeet kun do is another option, Bruce lee mixed eastern and western arts up, including boxing.

But it depends on what your target is, self defence? sports?

If you want to be in a sport such as MMA then you should do muy thai kick boxing, or grappling (although grappling doesn't have anything to do with your question)

wing chun is a self defense not a sport. MMA can be street defense to but MMA styles usually concentrate on one person, and in the streets a lot of the time it's multiple people, weapons, etc.

The concept of street fighting is to finish it as fast as you can, don't go to boxing stance and start looking cool, end it ASAP.

But don't try to fight in the first place.

opposite of sports, since it has rules and you have to fight.

The best arts to mix are grappling and stand up.

Note that most of the time you don't wanna be grappling the person in street defense because one of his friends can come and kick you anywere that's open and it WILL hurt.
Reply:no such thing as messing up. wing chun and any other kung fu is fine. the school i go to is kung fu and MMA and theres nothign wrong with my stance. its all muscle memory. the point is a boxing stance its for fighting while kung fu stances are for performance but sometimes work in real life
Reply:I would say some sort of MMA would go well with it

I do Boxing and Japanese JuJitsu

and they accept a boxing stance when we spar at jujitsu
Reply:Muay Thai
Reply:I'd actually stay away from kung fu. that particular art will tend to do wide, and exotic stances.

In my training, I've found that Tang Soo Do, Kenpo, aikido, muay thai, and shito ryu karate all use a 'fightin stance' which is exactly what a boxer would use.
Reply:u can do some kick boxing like muey tai. or some aikijujutsu.

basically any martail arts that stands straight up.

to get real technical, try fencing.

wing chug is a good idea though.
Reply:Question should be what martial arts technique can be performed well from a boxing stance since that seems to be your main interest.

Answer = just about any of them .Tailor the technique to your boxing stance DO NOT change your boxing stance .
Reply:Check out some Wing Chun websites and do some research, but do not become a martial arts gypsy.

Many cups but all half empty...
Reply:American Kickboxing (K-1); Muay Thai or Chute Boxing.
Reply:I would stick to boxing for stand up and do some ground work for the mma. I am sure the folks over at http://www.fightjunkie.net/forum can answer the question better.
