So confuseddddd, please help.?

my karate school is closing down next week for personal situations, and we're all disbanding. I have a MMA school that teaches Jiujitsu %26amp; kickboxing. I seen this school on a website that teaches wing chun. My instructor asked me what i'm gnna do now and i said maybe check out the wing chun school over summer, then they said my MMA school is enough for me and there will be aftermaths if i join that school, that i will be learning "slower". The thing is, i'm gnna be learning 2 completely different situations, jiujitsu and a stand up art. But the thing is, I like being in one MMA school and one traditional school, i'm not tryin to be the best at everything, i jus wanna be good enough to defend myself in situations. I'm discouraged and stressed because karate was like a brother to me, i never made basketball, i got dropped from football, and when i find something i'm good at and love, it goes down the drain like that. Now when i try to move on, i get these comments. WTF.

So confuseddddd, please help.?
You have to assess your needs and desires for the future. Othe rppl's comments are useless, they are not you. You should take some time and think about what you want.
Reply:if you loved karate that much you shouldn't quit it just cuz your old place closed down. Or if now you want to move on to something else, do it. Do whatever you want. And tell whoever told you that you'd learn slower if you take up wing chun to go make out with a box of wood screws. Don't let their own selfish reasons interfere with what you do. Bottom line, do what you want, and don't be bullied (u'r learning martial arts so that should be easy), and most of all, don't lose hope, cuz it sounds like you have.
Reply:I think I responded to your other question. My statement still remains the same. Go check out the other school. Find out if they have a trial period. See if you like it. There is nothing wrong with learning a different style. Once you have some martial art training and you have good knowledge of the basic concepts. Picking up a new style is easy. There are only slight differences. You will need to learn new katas. But it will be easier to learn the new katas because of you prior experience. I'm positive you will enjoy it.
Reply:learn somthing new but related , like Samurai Sword skill, which is cool too . I find something very interesting like samurai sword history info from handmadesword.com , cool site . got a lot information. paul chen sword, Furubushidoo, handmadesword are all good
Reply:huh?
Reply:If you want to try wing chun then do so. Screw what others have to say.
Reply:Your MMA teacher probably thinks that you might like the Wing Chun better than what he is teaching you. This is what I would do:

I would go to the Wing Chun school and check it out. If I liked it I would enroll in the school and take the class. I would not tell the other instructor that I was attending the other school. I would just simply do it without asking his opinion or allowing him to know about it.

Too many times we get interested in something and we refuse to check it out because someone "told us" that it was no good. Use your own judgment, you might discover something really cool.

Good Luck.
Reply:I understand as I have been in your situation before and it can be very disheartening. Try to accept that there is nothing you can probably do to change this unfortunate situation and move on and pick what it is that you want to do and make the choices that you can best live and be happy with that you have available to pick from. Also remember that sometimes when a door closes a window sometimes opens and you may find more satisfaction in your new training than you thought possible.
Reply:If you do what others think or do only to make others happy the result is the only one not happy is you.

I agree with RAY H screw advice do what you want to do.
