What makes wing chun different from other martial arts?

May i suggest you get a book.

But what makes Wing Chun different is the centre line theory. It eliminates all the waste motions and takes the most direct approach.

The shortest distance between tow points is always a straight line.

I have done wing chun for five years. And i keep it quiet. Because when someone tells people they are a martial artist they want to see big kicks and stuff like that. But Wing Chun is just fighting. Combat down to it's most basic level is outstandingly efficient and deadly.

Reply:Wing Chun is a gong fu form that is derived from southern china.

Like its Northern counterpart the moves are fluid and strong, the separation comes in the form of Northern arts in China were predominantly internal arts where as the southern arts are more external.

The question seems to be a perplexing one in as much as all martial arts have a varying degree of difference between them.

Judo is different from Gong fu but has similar roots in Aikido.

The world is full of different martial arts. All are based around simple philosophies of generating strength in a small space and with speed.

Hope this helps
