Did wing chun actually originate from hung gar?

do not beleive so but i am not 1005 positive. I trained in Hung Gar for a couple years. I do not remember anything about Wing chun deriving from Hung Gar. It is possible though i guess.

Did wing chun actually originate from hung gar?
I think that Won Hung Lo was the origination point for Creme of Some Yung Guy, but Mei SO Horny was a problem in that relationship...Mei cheated with Ju Fri Lice. What a shame.
Reply:It is my understanding that Wing Chun predates Hung Gar.

Wing Chun, in one version, was invented by a woman, either a Buddhist nun or in collaboration with a Buddhist nun.
Reply:As I understand it, Wing Chun and Hung Gar are two different styles with only a few similarities. WC originated from the culmination of the original 5 animal styles of the Shaolin Temple.

According to legend, it was developed by five masters of those styles and, yes, Ng Moi (a woman) was one of those masters. These masters worked together to essentially weed out the techniques of each style that weren't the most effective and put only what truly worked into one style that was dubbed "Wing Chun".

I'm not entirely sure of the origins of Hung Gar other than the fact that it's named after it's founder who was also training at a Shaolin temple, but he was not one of those masters nor do I believe he was trained by anyone that practiced Wing Chun.

Sorry for the novel, short answer - No. It didn't.
